452 Thunder Bay – WEATHER – Weather warnings and alerts continue for the region. The warnings range from Extreme Cold Warnings for Washaho Cree Nation / Fort Severn in the north, to snowfall warnings and alerts across Western Ontario. The cold spot in Ontario this morning is -28.2 ° C or -18.8 ° F at the Peawanuck Airport. Local roads and highways will be slippery. If you do not need to travel, today is a good day to step back, relax, and binge watch Netflix, Apple TV, Crave, or read a good book. Thunder Bay Police state, “Consider cancelling unnecessary travel. If you must travel, be sure to give yourself lots of extra time to arrive at your destination. Leave lots of space between your vehicle and other motorists and adjust your speeds to the weather and roadway conditions.”

City of Thunder Bay Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning. The weather service says that significant snowfall is expected to start late this afternoon and continue into Wednesday. The total snowfall amounts which could be from 10 to 20 cm are expected by Thursday morning. Snow may mix with rain along the shoreline of Lake Superior on Wednesday morning and into early Wednesday afternoon as temperatures briefly rise above the freezing mark. As a result, lesser snowfall accumulations are anticipated near Lake Superior. Brisk northerly winds gusting 40 to 60 km/h on Wednesday will result in localized blowing snow over exposed areas.
