Tammy Wells photo KENNEBUNK – Back in September, a destructive fire swept through Nest & Mullen, a custom butcher shop with deep roots in Kennebunk. With a lot of work, the small company on Perkins Lane was back in business a few weeks later, in a temporary building, with the help of others who lent their time, talent and equipment – from an excavator to refrigerated trucks – and others who provided space and more.

Attempted vehicle theft Sometime between Jan. 15 and 20, unknown suspect(s) punched the lock and damaged the ignition of a vehicle on the 1800 block of Kingsdale Avenue. Vehicle theft A victim’s vehicle was stolen while it was parked in front of her residence on the 3400 block of Dow Avenue on Jan. 20. Video captured two suspects stealing the vehicle during nighttime hours. Another vehicle theft occurred on Jan. 21 around 8:15 p.m. near the intersection of Aviation and Artesia Boulevards. Officers located the vehicle nearby, and a  high-risk stop was conducted. An illegally possessed firearm, illegal narcotics and indicia of identity theft were located in the vehicle. Both occupants were arrested.

EC Fire Department A cooking fire contained to container was reported Dec. 8 in the 100 block of Quail Run, Elizabeth City. A good intent call that involved removal of a hazard was reported Dec. 8 in the 200 block of E. Colonial Ave., Elizabeth City. An overheated motor in the 10 block of Fine Arts Way on the Elizabeth City State University campus, Elizabeth City, was reported Dec. 8. A report of motor vehicle accident with no injuries in the 330 block of Paxton Street, Elizabeth City, was reported Dec. 8. A service call that involved the removal of a hazard in the 1200 block of N. Road Street, Elizabeth City, was reported Dec. 8.
