Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday to a welfare check on Perdido Key Beach near the 13000 block of Perdido Key Drive. When they arrived the deputies spoke with a man who explained that he had been sitting on his condo’s balcony when he noticed a woman, later identified as Neugebauer, leave two boys on the beach by themselves while she walked out of sight. The man said he saw Neugebauer return about 20 to 30 minutes later before leaving again, the report stated. The man told deputies that he had not seen her check on or come back for the boys for almost an hour.
