A 6-day festival featuring two round-robins and an open tournament is taking place in Madrid. Famous chess personalities, such as Levy Rozman, Eric Rosen and Anna Cramling, are participating. Among the raising stars invited to play, 10-year-old Faustino Oro stands out, as he attempts to become the youngest International Master of all time.
The second edition of the Menorca Chess Open is taking place on April 11-16 at the Princesa Playa Hotel on the Balearic island of Menorca. The 2021 Challengers Chess Tour Champion, Praggnanandhaa R, takes on the 2022 Champion, Pranav V, in a $10,000 match held in the Tel Aviv offices of Julius Baer on December 11-13. The match is split into 4 mini-matches, 2 in rapid chess and 2 in blitz.
Gukesh won his third consecutive tournament in Spain as he scored an unbeaten 8/10 to claim first place at the Chessable Sunway Formentera Open. After missing several tournament triumphs on tiebreaks, Gukesh got outright victory in Formentera by finishing a half point ahead of the field.
