Peoria man arrested on slew of charges after driving through a field near Cactus Country

April 21, 2021 On Sunday, April 18th around midnight, Galesburg Police responded to the 3000 block of West Main Street for reports of a drunken driver who had driven through a field and the backyard of a home behind Cactus Country then crashed in a ditch. GPD received numerous calls about the driver whose Chevrolet Camaro was sticking nose-down in the ditch with the back wheels up off the ground, according to police reports. Police made contact with the driver: a very incoherent and intoxicated 24-year old Heath Williams of Peoria who was banging on the window of a fellow motorist’s SUV. The female motorist initially stopped to help Williams, but was frightened due to his hysteria and returned to her vehicle before calling the police. Officers observed numerous clumps of cannabis throughout Williams’ car in plain sight along with several baggies of cannabis all totaling around 14.1 grams. A stun gun was also found inside the car. 16-year-old arrested for involvement in various Peoria burglaries

Midwest Communications/Shutterstock PEORIA, Ill. A 16-year-old male has been arrested by Peoria Police for his involvement in various incidents throughout the area. The juvenile was seen just before 10:45 a.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of W. Montana walking towards a previously reported stolen vehicle. Upon seeing police, the juvenile attempted to walk away but was detained, according to Public Information Officer Amy Dotson. Police then found the key to the stolen vehicle was in possession by the 16-year-old, as well as a large amount of cash and ammunition. He was transported to the Peoria Police Department Criminal Investigations Division for interview purposes and subsequently arrested for the following related to this incident: Obstructing/Resisting Police, Obstructing Identification, Unlawful Use of a Weapon – Ammo, and a Peoria County Warrant for Contempt of Court.

Peoria Police arrest juveniles involved in January Galesburg burglary

Midwest Communications/Shutterstock PEORIA, Ill. Peoria Police have arrested two juveniles that were hiding out in Peoria after burglarizing a store in Galesburg in January. Both juveniles, aged 15 and 17, had First Degree Murder warrants issued out of Knox County. The Peoria Police Special Investigations Division (PPD SID) developed information Tuesday that led to the location of the 17-year-old suspect. PPD SID officers saw a group of individuals in the 1800 block of S. Griswold, in which they recognized one of the individuals as the wanted 17-year-old. As officers approached the suspect, two of the other males in the group made movement towards their waistbands and took off running.

Homeless man breaks into multiple occupied apartments, removes shoes, steals woman s coat

February 16, 2021 Friday, February 12th, just before 4:30 am, Galesburg Police were dispatched to the Sandburg Village Apartments on Home Boulevard where a female caller reported a home intruder. The woman said she woke up to see a man standing in her bedroom doorway wearing her coat. The suspect had also removed his shoes after entering the apartment. The residents chased the man out of the apartment. The woman’s four children ages 9-months to 9 years old were also in the apartment. According to police reports, less than an hour later, GPD received calls of a second break-in at the same complex. During the second incident, residents returned home to find two unknown male subjects locked in a bedroom. An altercation ensued, and the male subjects fled. A 14-year old and a 7-year-old juvenile were also home at the time. A short time later, one of the residents identified one of the subjects and another altercation took place.
