The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State has accused some group of people of trying to malign Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, its candidate in the Kogi Central Senatorial candidate. Some acclaimed members of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) had in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of importing thugs and militants into the state and all manner of allegations. Reacting in a statement, Ilyasu Zubaru, zonal chairman of the party alleged the group fabricated falsehood to malign its candidate.
The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi has written the National Peace Committee to notify it of the threats against the opposition by the state government. The letter was written by the Chairman of the PDP in Okene, Kogi State, Engr. (Dr.) Samuel Uhuotu and addressed to the Chairman of the National Peace Committee, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.). Abubakar is a former Nigerian military ruler. The letter is titled ‘Complaint/Notice of Threat To Peace And Security By The Government Of Kogi State’.

Ahead of 2023 general election in the country , there have been persistent calls on the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello by various groups, organisations and individuals both within and outside the state to contest for the exalted Number One position in the land. This has continued to gather momentum in the recent past and probably has also lent credence to the earlier call made by the 25 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly in December 2020 during a plenary season .
