christie out of new jersey and mitch daniels out of indiana. and those are two successful republican governors. now would you take those as endorsements? or is this the speaker of the house, just saying, hey, you know, come one, come all and see what you have in the campaign? i think it is the latter. i mean, i don t think the speaker is going to endorse a specific candidate, certainly not now. i think he and a lot of other people think the republican party would be advantaged by having a robust, albeit constructive primary where people keep their focus on barack obama and what they would do, and, not take their guns and shoot them at other republicans, most of the time. so, i think he would encourage these as broad a primary as possible and i think a lot of peopler coming to the conviction a long contest, could be just as good for the republicans in 2012 as a long contest was for the democrats in 2008. bill: and he was asked about newt gingrich and we ll get the announcement tomor

[ cheering ] 35% now say they will vote, show support for president obama and 31%, no opposition half is from august. here is another poll. what matters to a house member, national issues or democratic issues, are the democrats picking up hope on the last point by focusing issues on their own districts, the ones they are defend? you know, our pollsters call this can you see the footprints of the campaign? what i like about this question, we asked it in august and more people told us national issues matter more to them than what their member of congress does locally. well, guess what? these guys went home. they started campaigning. they made their own case. and now you re seeing 52% tell us no, you know what we are going to judge them on their
cautious but haven t been necessary. we haven t seen the heavy winds or the surge or any outage of power anywhere across the state. we are seeing people along the boardwalk, people walking really, cureiosity about the storm and the waves all along this resort area here and hotels, peopler their balconies, watching watching it come in. not a sense of dread or peril. but more cureiosity, people looking at the waves, looking at the storm without much sense of dread from its effects. tell us where you are, you say there are people hanging out on their balconies. why do you think there isn t that sense of dread? reporter: i think state fiduciaries over the last few hours have said that virginia did dodge the bullet here. and many of these people for tourists who have been following things closely. the one real concern was people swimming in the water. there were red flags and the only people in the water were
