now, but they are not rendering it a safe scene. right. that is because they still have tactical officers walking through the mall, walking through the walmart. they are dealing with sounds like multiple scenes here. different locations. and obviously this mall, it is a mall, so very large area that police need to search. there is going to be as we ve seen video and heard people hiding, hunkering down, afraid to walk out oof some of these rooms. people in the stock rooms, the bathrooms of all of the different shops and store. and we yet don t know how many people were inside, but probably in the thousands. so you have to imagine the panic as well of people that were hearing gunshot, people reacts ending to that. so people will be injured as a result of that, running for their lives. it does seem as we have been told that they have at least a suspect, a subject, possibly the shooter in custody.

[ shots fired ] you hear those gunshots, it is so frightening. we are also hearing more from eyewitnesses who were there at the shooting including from this man who was at the walmart, at the mall, who uttered a message
that is the primary that they are looking at communications inside this bar to shelter away from where police are moving, the police wanted to make sure they didn t cause any collateral and the active shooter. julie: people hiding in the attic, and on the roof of the bar, people hiding in bathrooms, they can get in touch with their friends inside at the time. a lot of college students, and cal state university at pepperdine university, incredibly difficult when you have a venue, and open space.
to see jurisdiction, agencies in the area, the training for active shooters. people hiding in the attic, people hiding in bathrooms. how do first responders deal with that when you come on the scene? the first is to secure, to get aid those who are down. to make sure the shooter themselves is not a continuing threat. you either neutralize the shooter if possible, or if the action is over you go to life-saving mode. other officers are looking for
we heard a pop. come to realization, that somebody was back there shooting. we got down and crawled out for our lives. everybody running for their lives. people being trampled. people hiding. everybody was screaming in fear. nothing that you expect to see in something like this. the two dead are taylor robinson and elijah clayton. both former high school football players. both were competing, shepard, in this tournament. shepard: what are we hearing about the survivors, rick? well, some of them were treated and released after the shooting. one is listed in serious condition. all the rest are in good condition and all expected to survive. obviously a traumatic experience a short time ago. i spoke with senator bill nelson who said that gun laws have to change. what i ve advocated all along, use common sense. pass a comprehensive universal
