Simeon Portway, owner of The Tube, had applied to Cornwall Council for a street trading licence to operate the business from a site in Market Street, Penzance. The council’s street trading sub-committee agreed to grant the licence when it met this week but imposed conditions on the business. These included that anyone working at The Tube must wear a face covering and, if they can’t wear a face mask, should wear a visor, or similar. If neither is possible then medical evidence will be required for why they cannot be worn.

Results of survey on future of Heamoor Field in west Cornwall

Almost 300 residents got involved in a survey about Heamoor Field earlier in the year. Penzance Town Council has now thanked the 296 people who took part in the consultation in September about the open grass area next to the old school on Madron Road in Heamoor. The most asked-for improvements to the field on Madron Road were: • Improved access to the field (including a gated entrance). • Improved accessibility for people with mobility issues by including a path across or around the field. • Benches. • More planting to encourage wildlife. The council said the next steps would be to get costs for the improvement works and then discuss the council budgets, which will be allocated in January.
