Students at Penryn College produced a range of memorable festive performances as the school hosted its first-ever outdoor Christmas concert. In-line with national COVID-19 guidelines, musicians, singers, and dancers - including Fab-YULE-us, Sleigh What?, #Elf-Y!, The Sugar Plum Fairies, The Candy Canes, The Saracens, The Year 7 Dancers, and The Brass Band - performed in outdoor stations around the school, as spectators revelled in the walk-through winter wonderland created by students and staff. Each group of students completed six performances to entertain the 180+ spectators, who had booked tickets in their household bubbles, with Head Boy and Head Girl, Daniel and Lucy, beginning each display with an introduction talk. Attendees were then escorted around the building by Year 11 Prefects, who were dressed in their festive elf outfits!

PENRYN College’s footballers christened the school’s new sports pitch with an exciting match against Plymouth Argyle on Monday night. The Year 11 team took on the academy side of professional side Plymouth under the floodlights of their newly re-laid 3G pitch to mark the first time it had been used since its refurbishment. The Penryn boys eventually lost 7-5 in a thrilling game watched by former pupil and current Argyle first-team striker Luke Jephcott, who was the guest of honour and presented a shirt to the school before kick-off. Team coach and Penryn College teacher Jake Ash said: “It’s great to use the pitch and their staff [at Argyle] said it was a great surface to play on. It looked awesome, it was really nice and a really special night.”
