UpdatedTue, May 11, 2021 at 9:01 am ET Reply LOWER MORELAND, PA The final leg of an iconic Montgomery County trail has been completed. The last section of the Pennypack Trail, a 0.7 mile stretch in Lower Moreland, was completed this week. The trail now runs for 6.2 miles throughout the Pennypack Creek valley, from Rockledge Park to the border with Bucks County on County Line Road. I am thrilled the trail is finished, and I can t wait to get out and ride my bike on the new section of the Pennypack, Montgomery County Commissioner Ken Lawrence said. Subscribe The trail generally follows a 12-foot wide gravel path over the former Fox Chase-Newtown SEPTA line, a rehabilitated rail trail in the vein of the Cynwyd Trail in Manayunk and Lower Merion.

Cross County Trail study in Montgomery County highlights safety, equity, connectivity

UPPER DUBLIN — Safety, connectivity and equity are the goals of a Cross County Trail expansion feasibility study outlined to about 70 viewers in a virtual information session Thursday. “We want to be able to create a trail that allows folks regardless of ability to be able to use it,” said Matt Ludwig, a project manager with NV5, a consulting firm advising the ongoing project. Brian Olzsak, a senior trails and open space planner with the Montgomery County Planning Commission, joined Ludwig in the virtual webinar that sought to engage trailgoers on possibilities for the six-mile-long segment of the Cross County Trail.

Public input sought on Montgomery County Cross County Trail

NORRISTOWN — The Montgomery County Planning Commission, in partnership with its consultant, NV5, has initiated work on studying the feasibility of the easternmost segment of Montgomery County’s Cross County Trail. This 6-mile-long segment, when completed, will begin at Welsh Road in Upper Dublin Township and terminate at the county’s Pennypack Trail. The project may involve several municipalities, including Upper Dublin, Upper Moreland, Horsham, Hatboro, and Bryn Athyn. “Once completed, this important connection will link at least two other well-loved regional trails together, including the Power Line and Pennypack Trails,” said Val Arkoosh, chairwoman of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners. “It is very exciting to see this work move forward, and we encourage residents to attend the upcoming public meeting and provide their feedback on this project.”
