2020 political contributions by public contractors in NJ, lowest since 2006
The lack of state elections in 2020 may have contributed to the slump in 2020 political contributions by public contractors, according to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission; that, along with the COVID-19-related restrictions, which led many fundraising events to be canceled. As of April 5 preliminary information, the commission reports that public contractors registered their lowest contribution total ($7.8 million) to political entities in New Jersey since 2006.
Let’s shed no tears for the politicos. Jeff Brindle, ELEC’s executive director, said “contributions from these donors are likely to bounce back,” given that elections will be held this year for the governor’s seat and both legislative houses and the likelihood that an easing of the coronavirus threat will allow more fundraising events to be held this year than last.

The new parking deck proposed for North Fourth Street in Easton is officially a go, after city council on Wednesday night awarded more than $15 million in construction contracts.
Construction is expected to begin in late spring or early summer on the public garage planned for city-owned land adjacent to Church Street.
NORRISTOWN â A $9 million construction contract for a storage facility at the Montgomery County Department of Public Safetyâs emergency operations center was approved last week by Montgomery Countyâs elected officials.
The $9,086,011 agreement between the Montgomery County Department of Assets and Infrastructure and SJ Thomas Co. Inc., of Lansdowne, would cover âthe construction of a warehouse and garage facilityâ at the agencyâs headquarters in Eagleville.
The seven-figure listing was a âtotal lump sum price,â according to the contract award.

According to Kelly Cofransisco, Montgomery Countyâs director of communications, once completed, the warehouse would store several items including generators, personal protective equipment and sign boards and traffic equipment for mass evacuations.

The final public input meeting for the park happened Wednesday night at the Carroll Arts Center at 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., and Westminster’s recreation and parks department presented some of the features of the park they were set on before bringing it to city council. Although the department had many features picked out, they still wanted the public to weigh in on what should be prioritized.
