146 new COVID-19 cases reported Wednesday Megan Pacer © Provided by Anchorage KTUU-TV Coronavirus cases in Mississippi ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 146 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, two of which are among nonresidents. The state reported no additional deaths related to the virus, leaving the total number of Alaska resident deaths tied to COVID-19 at 342. Alaska continues to have one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the country. Of the total 146 new cases reported Wednesday, 144 were identified among Alaska residents of the following communities: Anchorage: 38 Utqiagvik: 2 Fairbanks North Star Borough: 1 Girdwood: 1 Nome: 1

20 deaths added to state dashboard, 194 new COVID-19 cases reported in Alaska on Thursday Megan Pacer © Provided by Anchorage KTUU-TV Coronavirus ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 194 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, nine of which were among nonresidents. The state also reported 20 additional deaths related to COVID-19 in its Thursday data 19 Alaska residents and one nonresident. State health officials told reporters Thursday that the additional recorded deaths are the result of ongoing review of death certificates. Health officials have previously explained that this is a routine process that can take a significant amount of time.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 249 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, eight of which were among nonresidents. The state reported no additional deaths of Alaska residents tied to the virus. The state remains in high alert status, according to the average daily rate of cases per 100,000 of population over the last two weeks. Six of the state’s major regions, including the Municipality of Anchorage, are in the high alert status, which, according to the state, indicates widespread transmission of the virus.

According to DHSS, transmission of the virus is currently increasing statewide, and the state as a whole is still in the high-alert level when it come to the average case rate per 100,000 people over the last two weeks. Virus transmission has increased for the second week in a row, according to a weekly case update from the state.
