Covid-19 new variants now in several states, adhere to SOPs

PUTRAJAYA: The people have been advised to continue to adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) as new variants of Covid-19 have spread to several states such as Kelantan, Kedah and Negeri Sembilan, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah ( pix) said. He said so far, there were three variants of concern (VOC) in the country, namely 62 cases involving the South African variant (B.1.351), eight cases for the United Kingdom variant (B.117), and two cases involving the Indian variant (B.1.617.1). As for the South African variant, 14 cases were detected today, of which seven were in the Kampung Domis cluster in Kelantan; three cases of close contact to active cases in Selangor; one case involving a health worker in Kelantan; two cases in Kedah and one case detected in Negeri Sembilan, namely the Pengkalan Hulu cluster.

EMCO for areas in Pahang, Terengganu, Perak, says Ismail Sabri

PUTRAJAYA: Several localities in Pahang, Terengganu and Perak will be placed under the enhanced movement control order after Covid-19 cases were reported there. In Pahang, the enhanced MCO will be imposed on three villages at Tras sub-district in Raub where so far, health authorities recorded 17 positive cases from screenings carried out at the villages. The affected villages are Kampung Baru Tras, Kampung Sungai Cheetang and Kampung Sang Lee, which will be placed under the enhanced MCO from May 13-26. Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the enhanced MCO will also be imposed on Rumah Awam Kos Rendah Pelagat 3 in Besut, Terengganu.
