An old gold miner’s trail leads participants out onto a ridge before beginning the final descent. A medium level of fitness is required for walkers and runners, whilst the technically challenging mountain bike route requires a fairly high level of fitness. After a year of cancelled events and thwarted fundraising efforts in 2020, the non-profit preschool is looking forward to resuming the popular event. “We exist for the benefit our local whanau, but couldn’t exist without their support, and that of the local community and businesses,” Moore said. The school was recently given a huge boost by the Rata Foundation, with a grant of $30,000 towards renovations of the office and staff area.
