A preliminary coroner’s report on the body of a pilot killed when his plane crashed near the Prince George airport two months ago has found he died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
And a toxicology test found no evidence of alcohol or drugs in 71-year-old Ben Guilliamse’s system when his Cessna 182 crashed shortly after takeoff June 7, acting regional coroner Shane DeMeyer said.
“The definitive cause of death is multiple fatal blunt force trauma due to the aviation accident,” he said.
Investigators had wondered whether Guilliamse had lost consciousness or died while flying.
The report doesn’t preclude a loss of consciousness or another event that may have led to the crash, DeMeyer said.
