The Pella City Council reviewed the proposed 2021-22 budget at a pair of work sessions last week. Assistant City Administrator Corey Goodenow says the project is for approximately $41 million in expenditures, with operations expected as normal for departments in the coming year. Goodenow says several key projects are listed in the fiscal year that starts in July, including full operations for Pella Fiber, the development of a beautification project at the old power plant site on Oskaloosa Street, a new fire truck for the Pella Fire Department, and more sessions about the future of the Pella Community Center and recreation opportunities in the community. He says the budget also includes the framework for several infrastructure projects, with the main focus on the conversion from gravel to pavement on 218th Place south of Neil Drive and an overhaul of the Oost Poort Alley in the Central Business District.
