Giarrizzo is currently the superintendent of North Shore schools in Nassau County. The board named “a very successful and safe physical reopening of school in the pandemic” as one of his Long Island achievements.
“Mount Pleasant has served as one of the most formative experiences of my career as an educator and leader,” Giarrizzo said in the board’s statement. “The opportunity to return as your Superintendent of Schools is exciting and one that I will embark upon with hard work, intense focus, and integrity.”
Current Mount Pleasant Superintendent Kurtis Kotes announced plans to depart in January, when he was appointed the next superintendent of Goshen schools in Orange County, where he served as an assistant superintendent before moving to Mount Pleasant in 2018.
