A teacher and five students were treated for injuries after one of the students inadvertently ignited a homemade explosive device inside a Michigan high school’s classroom, authorities said.
Police responded to reports of the explosion shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday at Newaygo High School located in the small rural city of Newaygo, Michigan. They found the 16-year-old student who accidentally set off the device with moderate to severe injuries from the blast, according to

Four other students who were inside the classroom at the time of the explosion were treated for minor injuries, and the teacher later went to the hospital for evaluation.
