So-called experts have misunderstood the COVID-19 vaccine-hesitancy for over-50s (“Women and over-55s most reluctant to be vaccinated”, May 20). Most people who are vaccine-hesitant are only vaccine-hesitant in respect to AstraZeneca. They are not complacent. Even before the findings of the Royal Commission into Aged Care were released, it was obvious that more funding was required to raise the standard of care and treat residents with compassion and dignity (âStep up on aged careâ, March 2). Caring for people who cannot properly care for themselves deserves payment commensurate with the valuable service given. A huge increase in funding is necessary, and this can only be done through raising taxes or the Medicare levy. Politicians should stop promising tax cuts.
