Madhuri Dixit was born on May 15, 1967, to Shankar and Snehlata Dixit in Mumbai. She has three elder siblings two sisters and a brother. Madhuri started learning Kathak at the age of three and continued to practice the dance form for eight years. She received her education at Divine Child High School in Andheri, followed by a brief stint in Bachelor in Science at Sathaye College in Vile Parle. Madhuri left the course halfway to pursue her career in movies. Initially, Madhuri s movies were not doing well commercially until Tezaab (1988), alongside Anil Kapoor, became the year s highest-grossing movie.
