A device known as a bionic pancreas, which uses next-generation technology to automatically deliver insulin, was more effective at maintaining blood glucose (sugar) levels within normal range than standard-of-care management among people with type 1 diabetes, a new multicenter clinical trial has found.
The mental impact these traumatic events can have on children and teens, Dr. Briggs says is huge. "The stress response that is often missed is the fight mode because the kids are acting out, they're engaging in high risk behavior, they're driving us nuts and often times we forget to stop and think that some of these behaviors are driven by emotional stress" said Dr. Briggs.
