PETALING JAYA: Almost 250 employees of car leather upholstery maker Pecca Group have tested positive for Covid-19.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Pecca said “some” staff from its subsidiary, Pecca Leather Sdn Bhd (PLSB), tested positive during a recent screening – after which PLSB conducted an immediate screening of 597 employees.
Of those tested, 246 were Covid-19 positive.

The company has shutdown its operations for seven days, after a similar closure last month when three employees tested positive.

(Pecca) has confirmed that some of its subsidiary, Pecca Leather Sdn Bhd’s (PLSB) production staff tested positive for COVID-19 in a recent screening conducted by the company.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Pecca said PLSB in response to the results conducted immediate screening of 597 employees as well as contact tracing and quarantine measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, PLSB has enforced enhanced physical distancing and protection measures, arranged separate lodging arrangement for non-affected employees, and undertaken disinfection and sanitation activities at production areas and common spaces. To safeguard the safety of employees and facilities, PLSB had also decided to close operations of production floor from Dec 21-27, 2020, it said.
