Jan 12, 2021 3:50 PM Bunnell, FL - A suspect is in custody after authorities find him with a stolen trailer, counterfeit cash, masks, and police gear. The Flagler County Sheriff s Office first received an alert from a license plate reader (LPR) about the trailer—that was stolen out of the Daytona Beach Shores area—as it was being towed by a black Chevrolet SUV Monday morning (January 11th). As soon as the alert went out, FCSO s Real Time Crime Center was activated and operators found the vehicle traveling west on State Road 100.  Members of the Bunnell Police Department and the FCSO, including Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly, soon tracked down the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Moody Boulevard—not even a mile away from the FCSO s headquarters. A former Mississippi State Police officer was arrested in Bunnell with counterfeit money, brass knuckles, a gun, some police badges and a pair of clown masks in his vehicle, according to a press release. He was also pulling a trailer stolen in Volusia County, the report said. Ettienne Joseph Mixon Jr., 35, was arrested Monday and charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of forged bills.  Mixon was being held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on $12,500 bond, the release said. The case began when a license plate reader alerted the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 10:37 a.m. Monday that a black Chevrolet Tahoe was pulling a trailer reported stolen in Volusia County, according to the release.

By Gimpy Jan 13, 2021 Earlier this week, a license plate reader in Florida got a hit on a trailer that had been stolen so the Real Time Crime Center was immediately activated to locate the truck the was towing it. Deputies conducted a traffic stop at a local convenience store and when they searched the vehicle, they found some odd things. Inside they found 35 year old Joseph Mixon in possession of a loaded gun that was in his pocket, a back pack that had a large amount of counterfeit cash, brass knuckles, and two clown masks. Also in the vehicle, they found law enforcement equipment including ammunition, badges, a helmet, a Mississippi State Police Dept. ID card and a Pearl River Sheriff s Office key card. When authorities contacted the Mississippi State Police, they said that Joey had been terminated and asked to keep the equipment safe.
