the sister of the north korean leader arrived on a private plane that landed at the airport. she shook hands with moon jae-in. they have a lunch scheduled together saturday. meanwhile, they are most likely in the stadium behind me where this light show is taking place among 40,000 other plus spectators there also believed to be the u.s. vice president mike pence who, from what we understand, has not met face-to-face with the north koreans thus far. not everybody is happy with this olympic diplomacy here in south korea. there have been consistent noisy, usually quite small protests. you may be able to hear them off camera. this loud speaker in the background. some south koreans view the invitation to north korea as appeasement to a country that was firing missiles just last november. but, again, the government is calling this the peace games.
the korean unified women s hockey team is on the ice playing a friendly warm-up against sweden s team just days before the olympic games are set to start. this is the team practicing just a few days ago. the video you see here. it s the first time we re seeing the korean team made up of north and south koreans. battling an opponent. some welcomed the cooperation, but not all. just outside the game, a short time ago, dozens of protesters came together to voice their opposition to this new diplomatic chapter between north and south korea. ivan watson was there, and filed this report for us. reporter: we re just days from the start of the south korean winter olympics, which the government here has called the peace games. but we re seeing some signs of discord before an exhibition ice

participated in a program that was called peace games. i was elected the first latino to the city council. and really i volunteered for extra credit in one of my classes. but it was one of the most defining experiences of my college career. i thought, that s what i want to do, because i could see it in my own community, all the racism, all of the inequities and i wanted to do something to change. my eyes were open to a whole new world that i knew so little about. they were issues that i cared about and they felt pressing and they felt like they needed attention. and that a life well spent would be one trying to address the issues of our time, not sort of indulging my passion for acting, which felt frivolous in comparison. when you see that kind of change, people have this power to change things, it s just very, i guess, it s almost it makes it just feel like so great
