welcome back. i m yasmin vossoughian alongside louis burgdorf. the bottom of the hour, let s start with the morning s top story. later today, president trump intends to announce that the united states now recognizes jerusalem as the capital of israel. however, the president will delay moving the embassy for the time being and will sign a congressionally mandated six-month waiver keeping the embassy in tel aviv. it comes as warning that american allies abroad taking unilateral action will hobble if not end any peace effort in the region in addition to provoking unrust and regional instability. and the state department has issued a warning to diplomats to take extra precaution for their safety. from jerusalem, nbc news correspondent ron allen. ron, good to see you once again. talk to us about the atmosphere

handed. the bottom line to all the american public watching this is whatever happened before the april 4th chemical attacks was happening before april 4th and is still going on right now. so it s really it s a wake-up call to all of us whether it s a nonpartisan issue. it s a humanitarian crisis for seven years we ve turned away. and now what is the right answer? that s what i think a lot of people, whether it s washington and the trump administration, whether it s democrats who are pushing and questioning trump on his russian involvement, what is the right question going forward and what s the best move for our national security, for the syrians and the children and civilians caught in the middle of all of this. it s such a nuanced situation going on in the ground and there was no peace effort in sight. there was no way that the obama administration with john kerry pushing for a cease-fire, pushing for some sort of truce with his russian counterpart, there s no way that they could
