A prestigious California private school is under fire from parents upset that the school is teaching gender fluidity to first graders.
At issue was a
book read to students at La Jolla Country Day’s lower school, titled
It Feels Good to Be Yourself, by Theresa Thorn. In one excerpt, the book reads, “Some people are boys. Some people are girls. Some people are both, neither, or somewhere in between.”
Parents say they were not told about the new curriculum, only learning about it through descriptions when their children returned home. The parents believed the students were being taught “gender fluidity,” which they described as a “leftist ideology.”
