and in part because of the president s travels to the midwest and in part because of the new energy that texas governor rick perry is adding to the republican race. wednesday governor perry visited new hampshire, and while it s clear he s the flavor of the moment in presidential politics, the more he speaks, the more people, including many republicans, ask this question by so aggressively appealing to the republican base, is governor perry undermining his appeal as a general election candidate? this comment in new hampshire questioning man s role in global warming is new fodder tonight for the perry electability debate. i think that there are a substantial number of scientists who have manipulated data so that they will have dollars rolling in to their projects. and i think we re seeing it almost weekly or even daily scientists who are coming forward and questioning the original idea that manmade global warming is what is causing the climate to change. here s another co

my progressive friends, he needs to be mindful of what could pass. which is extending payroll cut be extending the middle class tax cuts. do some things that make it difficult for republicans to vote against a balanced approach and do some things that will help employers create jobs. that s what he really needs. chris, i ll tell you how he can do it. if he will just recognize that this balanced approach, the rest of it, you won t run over the tea party. the tea party won t run the brian plan over you. get rid of that. go first for the budget cuts on entitlements then go for tax reform. tell the republicans, give us those exemptions and all the rest of it. we will give you your lower rates. if he does that in a two-step way and gets away from the idea of raising taxes, i think he can do something. he won in december by telling the republicans okay, you got your bush tax cuts. you got those now let s work on these. but if he goes down there and does the same thing again, and tries to r
balance sheet of large corporations. and that is politically what the president and congress has to do, but, john what did you think about last night? were you surprised the vote was as close as it was you mean not as close? not as close. are you surprised it was not close? what we talked about yesterday, there would have to be a lot of free votes and people would be left on the right and left to vote against it. the politics suggested that people on the left and right would want to be able to stay away from this thing. half the tea party members voted for the bill, you know. the bill passed with a big number of democrats. half the democrats i was very surprised. it suggests to me it may be that the president left some substance on the table. he could have passed this possible you could have gotten a little bit more to speak to harold s point about maybe a payroll cut, payroll tax cut extension, you know, some more on unemployment insurance.
