PAYETTE â A Payette landmark is getting a new lease on life thanks to several Kiwanis Club of Payette alumni. The former Kiwanis Youth Lodge, situated in Kiwanis Park near the Payette Public Swimming Pool, is approaching the finishing stages of a major overhaul carried out by KIwanis alumni  who include Payette City Councilor Ray Wickersham.
Wickersham provided the newspaper a tour of the lodge on Monday, as he shared some of the buildingâs history and some of his own memories at the lodge growing up. He said his role in the project is a liaison between the Kiwanis club and the Payette City Council.
PAYETTE â Ever since COVID-19 led to the shutdown of the Payette Public Swimming Pool in late March 2020, citizens have been asking city officials when they plan to reopen the facility. At the Payette City Councilâs regular meeting Monday evening, recreation director Tiffany Weimar sought to answer that question.
During her presentation, Weimar stated she aims to reopen the pool in May. In the meantime, however, she told the council that thereâs still much to do.
âIâm a certified pool operator now,â said Weimar. âThat means we can get an inspector to come in actually sign off on the inspection.â
