The TV licence fee currently cots £157.50 per year for individuals to watch live television in their home. While the bulk of the TV licence goes towards paying for the BBC, individuals must pay the fee even if they choose not to watch programmes or listen to radio from the corporation. Recently, changes have been announced to the licence fee meaning the payment amount will go up, rising to £159 from April 1, 2021.
