The Galaxy M12 will hit online retail stores in Vietnam early next week
The Galaxy M12 debuted in Vietnam all the way back in February but availability has so far been limited to the company’s offline stores. Soon enough though, customers in Vietnam will have the option of buying the Galaxy M12 online from Shopee.
Samsung Vietnam has revealed the online launch details earlier today and confirmed that the Galaxy M12 will be available from Shopee in two configurations. The entry-level model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage will be released in two color options: black and green. Similarly, the variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage will also be released in two colors: black and blue.
Samsung’s performance improved in India’s smartphone market in Q1 2021
Samsung is facing tough competition from the likes of OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi in the Indian smartphone market. However, the South Korean firm did quite well in Q1 2021 even if it couldn’t dethrone Xiaomi from its pole position. The company’s market share improved from 16% in Q1 2020 to 20% in Q1 2021.
The latest report from market analysis firm
Counterpoint Research shows that Samsung ranked second in India’s smartphone market, with a market share of 20%. Xiaomi (including POCO) is still the biggest smartphone brand in India (in terms of shipments) with a 26% share of the market. Vivo ranks third with a 16% market share, Realme ranks fourth with an 11% market share, and OPPO ranks fifth with an 11% share of the market.
Samsung Pay Mini coming to more Galaxy A, Galaxy M series phones
Samsung Pay Mini, which is a trimmed-down version of Samsung Pay, was launched four years ago. The mobile payment service allows users to make online payments and payments at retail locations via QR codes. The service was earlier limited to a few Galaxy A, Galaxy J, and Galaxy On series phones. However, the company has now started rolling it out to more Galaxy A and Galaxy M series devices.
The Galaxy A21s and the Galaxy M12 have started receiving Samsung Pay Mini in India with new software updates. Users of the two phones have reported that the feature was activated after installing the March 2021 security patch. Samsung Pay Mini can be linked to mobile wallets like Paytm and Mobikwik and bank accounts via India’s BHIM UPI interface. Customers can also pay bills, buy gift cards, apply for credit cards and personal loans, and know their credit score.
