After a turbulent week that saw 27 flight cancellations, the CEO of Flair Airlines says operations will return to normal starting Wednesday (Dec. 14). Speaking to media yesterday, CEO Stephen Jones addressed the cancellations, which began Dec. 7, as Flair is down three aircraft from its fleet of 19.
Jamaica has declared a state of emergency amid a surge in gang violence. While the wording of this can raise eyebrows, the measure is, in fact, a "strategic move" to address crime in sensitive areas, explains Angella Bennett, regional director for Canada at the Jamaica Tourist Board. Both Bennett and Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, say the country remains safe for tourists.
