Hamm is the founder of Paws For Compassion, the pet-therapy nonprofit he started five years ago to honor his sister, Tamra Williams, who died of cancer in 2015. He has done similar tours in past, completing a four-day bike ride across Florida in 2018 and traveling from Jupiter to Huntington Beach, Calif., in 2019.
“I wanted to do something to raise awareness about pet therapy and I wanted to do something to honor my sister, which is why I do all that, said Hamm, 54.
Hamm said he was inspired to begin pet therapy after witnessing a moment in which Chibby Choo provided comfort to Tamra during her illness.
