GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Pawnee County COVID case totals remain unchanged from last week
LARNED The Pawnee County Health Department (PCHD) reported no new county COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, March 30. The current county case total stands at 1,143 (one active case).
Community case totals (excluding Larned State Hospital, individuals in long-term care and Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility) saw an increase of one from last week at 606. Three cases have been identified in the last two weeks and one case in the last seven days.
No new deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in the last six weeks. The current death total in Pawnee County is 13. The county remains at Level Green on the COVID risk assessment matrix. Level Green represents no to minimal risk of spreading COVID-19.

The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in Kansas was adjusted downward last week, from 4,851 on Wednesday, March 10, to 4,824 on Friday, March 12, or 27 fewer, according to numbers released by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. On Monday, Barton County’s COVID-19 death toll was adjusted from 48 to 46 and Pawnee County’s was adjusted from 14 to 13.
The KDHE explained that the decrease in deaths is attributed to the review of death certificates. “Deaths initially reported to KDHE/Local Health Departments as COVID-19 related were identified during the review process as not having COVID-19 as the main cause or contributing cause of death. This is a normal process that occurs.”

LARNED COVID-19 cases in Pawnee County continue to decline as the county continues to see fewer cases over the past months. Last week, the county was lowered to Level Green on the risk assessment matrix indicating no to minimal risk of spreading the coronavirus.
The weekly report from the Pawnee County Health Department (PCHD) shows 1,333 cases (one active case) as of Tuesday, March 2, which is an increase of just one case from a week ago. Community case totals (excluding Larned State Hospital, individuals in long-term care and Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility) show 597 cases, up by three from last week.
