CENTRAL SQUARE â Itâs that time of year again. School district budgets and school board elections loom before the voters of the countyâs nine districts. On May 18 all will be decided.
This article will look at two of those districts, Central Square and Hannibal and their respective superintendentâs views of their districtâs budget, the state aid their district received, and the tax rate they are asking their community to approve. Also covered will be the upcoming school board elections and any propositions that will be put before the voters. Additionally, comments on the past school year, studentsâ progress, and plans for the coming summer will be included.

OSWEGO COUNTY â Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang announced Friday, April 23, that 24 additional residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total cumulative number of positive cases since the county began monitoring for COVID-19 in March 2020 to 7,545. There are currently 220 active positive cases.
Huang reminds residents that the virus is still active in our community. âOver the last several weeks, the Countyâs weekly accumulated new case counts have been around 160,â he said. âOur community remains at a âhigh community transmissionâ level, according to the CDC report. This puts us with 44% of counties across the country and closer to 90% of counties across the state.â
