The Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team has become the first team to enter The Ocean Race Europe, following the opening of the entry period.
The inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Europe is scheduled to take place in late spring this year and is open to VO65 and IMOCA 60 teams. The event will feature racing from the Atlantic coast of Europe into the Mediterranean, with up to four stops along the way. The full race course will be released shortly.
Based in Cascais, Portugal, The Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team will compete on board their Racing for the Planet boat, in the VO65 class, the record-breaking, one-design, offshore racing boats that produced the closest edition of The Ocean Race in history in 2017-18.

The €30 million complex is projected to create around 150 jobs within its first three years
The engineering and maintenance company, Mesa, have recently opened a new hangar at Beja’s civil terminal in Portugal.
Covering an area of more than 100,000sq ft, the site facilitates the maintenance of Airbus aircraft and includes offices, workshops, a warehouse and training amenities.

Paulo Mirpuri, president of Hi Fly and Mesa, said “Beja is a prime location for aircraft maintenance, and with this additional capacity we hope not only to keep up with the strong growth of Hi Fly’s fleet but also to acquire new customers mainly from Europe and Africa. It’s a big project for the Group and we’re looking forward to welcoming our fleet to this fantastic facility.”
Mesa Opens New Maintenance Hangar at Beja Airport in Portugal
(15 Jan 2021) Mesa, the engineering and maintenance company of the Hi Fly group, has officially opened a new hangar at Beja Airport (BYJ) in Portugal.
Covering an area of approximately 9,500 sqm the site is used for aircraft for maintenance and includes workshops, warehouse, offices, training facilities and other support premises.
The new hangar operates 24/7 and will serve as a base maintenance unit for Hi Fly’s Airbus fleet, as well as for other airlines which have maintenance contracts with Mesa.
