Now that the census has concluded, the state is revisiting its voting districts.
The Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is on a mission to survey those in the state about how they want to see the redistricting lines drawn.
On Wednesday, the Michigan Independent Citizen’s Redistricting Commission stopped in Gaylord for one of their 16 public hearings across the state.
It’s giving Michiganders an opportunity to share thoughts and concerns about what the new maps should look like.
Pauline Buchner is from Alpena and attended the hearing.
“I think the people are ready for a change in the way districts are drawn,” said Buchner. “I think the people have a pretty good idea of what their communities should look like.”
