At the same time, with venues around the world closed, all those people responsible for bringing the arts to us - the musicians, the performers, the singers, the dancers, the visual artists, the directors, the stage crews, - found themselves out of work.
Here in Louth, our arts venues faced a similar scenario as their doors were closed for most of the past year yet they managed to find new ways to reach out to audiences, not just locally but around the world.
Carlingford based tenor Gavan Ring and pianist Gary Beecher get together for the final concert in the Drogheda Classical Music 2020 autumn series will streamed be on Friday December 11 at 7.30pm.
The concert from the beautiful setting of St Peter s Church of Ireland features a selection of well-known operatic arias and songs by the great operatic composers Puccini, Mozart and Verdi as well as favourites such Schubert s Ave Maria, and Italian songs made famous by the legendary tenor Pavarotti. Although much of our autumn series was behind closed doors and only available to watch online, the chance to bring music and joy in to people s homes while giving performing opportunities to professional musicians and associated artists has been a privilege, says Director Pauline Ashwood.

Gavan and Gary will perform a programme of well-known operatic arias and songs that offer something for every audience. Given the current restrictions, this event has to remain online, but the programme will include arias from the great operatic composers; Puccini, Mozart and Verdi plus favourites such as Schubert s Ave Maria, Leoncavallo s Mattinata and De Curtis Torna a Surriento, all instantly recognisable, and made famous by the legendary tenor Pavarotti.
