CHARLESTON A Belva woman is suing a Charleston physician for causing her injuries while performing surgery.
Mandi R. Peck saw Dr. Hatem M. Hossino for gallstones and he advised her to have a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which he performed on Jan. 24, 2019, at Charleston Area Medical Center, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Peck claims he negligent transected the bile duct in the hilum of the liver while performing the surgery and caused a separation of both the right and left ducts.
The plaintiff was later admitted back to Charleston Area Medical Center and it was discovered she had a bile leak. She was later transferred to Allegheny General Hospital, where another surgeon performed an operative repair of her bile duct injury, according to the suit.
