welcome to inside politics. i m dana bash in washington. breaking moments ago, new photos, you can see them here. it shows pieces of the titan submersible pull ed off the ocen floor. i want to go right to ottawa and paula newton. what do those pictures tell us? it was quite a spectacle as we watched the video coming in from st. johns harbor there. those are quite large pieces of the debris. we want to be sensitive to know that five people lost their lives in tragic circumstances. but when you look at these stills, investigators will prove they will actually have some investigative material that s significant. if you at some of those pieces, match them to the body, the outer shell of that titan submersible. we have a statement from the company that first was able to deploy. to the wreck more than two miles to the bottom. they say it will take several days, but clearly, they must have been satisfied just in the last few days with how they were able to map out the debris, wh
potential human remains. reporter: quite right. exactly, jake. and also questions about whether or not something like this could have been prevented. again, this all happening this morning when these officials who were running this massive search, at the time search and rescue operation, the remote operated vehicle that was down on the ocean floor early this morning at 8:55 a.m. came across that debris field. right now what they are doing is the r.o.v.s are still there on the ocean floor, still trying to map the ocean floor, still trying to figure out exactly what is down there in terms of debris. the coast guard earlier today, the rear admiral gave his assessment of exactly what happened and in addition to that a deep sea expert weighed in on exactly what was found. we found five different major pieces of debris that told us that it was the remains of the titan. the initial thing we found was the nose cone, which was outside of the pressure hull. we then found a large de

there is that sense that the window is closing because of the oxygen levels on that craft and the gear finally getting go into shape. they do have remote-operated vehicles now able to get to that depth at the bottom and get eyes on things so hopefully we ll have information very soon. the coast guard typically does their press conferences around 1:00 p.m. eastern. they pushed that back a little later today so that may indicate that they have, they are trying to gather information and trying to understand exactly what is happening down there and what they have found. and by that time, hopefully, maybe they will have laid eyes on something and we will have a much clearer picture, two, two and a half miles beneath the surface of the ocean. and i want to read to our viewers what the coast guard put out. they said a debris field was discovered within the search area by an rov near the titanic. experts within the unified command are evaluating the information. so just so we are
