Ireland’s Tanaiste Leo Varadkar has called out AstraZeneca’s response on why they cannot honour their contractual agreements to the EU as “unsatisfactory”. AstraZeneca’s failure to honour their commitments is posing an “enormous problem” for the EU, Varadkar told the Dail Thursday night. The pharma giant has successfully delivered vaccines to the US and the UK, but not the EU. “I’m seeking explanations too because I can understand how AstraZeneca might run into problems with supply, or manufacturing or quality control. But I do not understand how this big successful company can honour its contracts with the United States and honour its commitments to the United Kingdom but for some reason not honour its contractual commitments to the European Union,” he stated.
