CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Staying at home has been a huge part of everyone’s life during the pandemic.
Now that the Cuyahoga County Stay at Home Advisory is coming to an end, many people told 19 News that cabin fever has not been great for their mental health.
Hannah Ludlow, a college student, told us how happy she is to know that the Cuyahoga County’s Stay at Home Advisory is ending.
The previous Stay at Home Advisory was in effect from Dec. 17. through Jan. 15.
The first meeting of the newly seated members of the Onslow County Board of Education began with the election of its leadership and a moment of silence in memory of former chairman Pam Thomas.
The newly elected members of the board – incumbent Ken Reddic and newcomers Melissa Oakley, Joseph Speranza and Eric Whitfield – were sworn into office in December but the business meeting was canceled due to health concerns among the board due to COVID-19, pushing the board’s first meeting to Jan. 5.
During the organizational start of the meeting, the board elected Bob Williams as chairman and Jeff Hudson as vice chairman.
Whether they worked with her, taught with her, volunteered with her or served with her, friends and colleagues of longtime educator and public servant Pam Thomas remembered one thing: her love for Onslow County.
“Pam was a pillar of our community, a mentor and a leader,” Onslow County Board of Education member Ken Reddic said.
Onslow County’s education community lost a great advocate with Thomas’ death and the community as a whole lost a great public servant, Reddic said.
Thomas, who was admitted to the hospital in late November after being diagnosed with COVID-19, died early Sunday morning.
Thomas worked as a teacher, coach and supervisor with Onslow County Schools for 34 years and after her retirement was elected to the Board of Education. She joined the school board in 2004 and served as chairman from 2010 until her final term, which ended this month.
