Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has paid his final respects to the late Sir Paul Tovua.
The Prime Minister and his wife Madam Sogavare paid their final respects as the body of the late Sir Paul Tovua Lay-in-State at the National Parliament Chambers.
Prime Minister Sogavare and Madam Sogavare also attended the funeral service at the Holy Cross Cathedral.
The Prime Minister, in his condolence message, conveyed on behalf of the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) and the people of Solomon Islands, his deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the wife, children and members of the immediate family, relatives, friends, and colleagues on the passing of the late Sir Paul Tovua.

Bidding farewell to the Late Paul, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said, “Rest in Peace, Son of Guadalcanal. Rest in peace Giant of Solomon Islands. I salute you. Solomon Islands salute you.”

The body of the late Statesman, Sir Paul Joseph Tovua, KCMG, OBE, and CSI, one of the founding fathers of our Nation will be accorded ‘Official Funeral’ on Tuesday 9 February.
On Monday afternoon 8th February, the body of Late Sir Tovua will be transported from the mortuary at the National Referral Hospital to his residence at Don Bosco, where it will spend the night with families and relatives.

Solomon Islands Alumni members of the Emerging Pacific Leaders Dialogue (EPLD) and the Commonwealth Study Conferences (CSC) are mourning the passing away of one of its senior members Sir Paul Tovua.
Sir Paul died in Honiara on Friday 5th February 2021. He was the chair of the Solomon Islands EPLD 2010 local organising committee.
Under his leadership, Solomon Islands successfully hosted one of the study tours groups of EPLD 2010. His committee also selected successful Solomon Islands applicants for the 2010 EPLD.
