Letters: If Harry wants to begin to win back some respect, he should renounce his right to the crown

AS expected, Harry and Meghan have opted to continue enjoying their current luxurious celebrity lifestyle in California, funded by cashing in on the novelty interest there in them and their royal status, rather than carrying out the irksome duties of senior royals here ( Harry and Meghan stripped of patronages after finalising split , The Herald February 20). Who can blame them? That is their choice and good luck to them, but of course their decision will have consequences, such as the fact that they can’t have their cake and eat it as they expected they could. Time will tell how well they, and Harry in particular, will cope as with familiarity the interest from the media in them and their celebrity status wanes.

Letters: UK should be ashamed of grabbing and hoarding the vaccines

Boris Johnson with warehouse supervisor Laurence Wilkinson during a tour last month of the manufacturing facility for the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine at Oxford Biomedica in Oxfordshire AN offer is not a vaccination . An allocation is not a delivery . Why should we care? Seven weeks ago, the UK Government embarked on a propaganda campaign of semantics – probably to distract us from the fact that England now has one of the highest Covid death rates in the world. Such a morale-boosting exercise might be justified, but not dishonesty. Staff and residents in English care homes may have been offered vaccines, but a great number – kept from us – have not actually been vaccinated. Vaccines have not been delivered to them.

Letters: Why we must use our full capacity and allow the asymptomatic to be tested

OUR First Minister seems set against asymptomatic tests, she just plain disagreed with Jackie Baillie at First Minister s Questions today (January 28). I am with Ms Baillie on this one. As an example, a work colleague recently feigned symptoms so that he could be with his girlfriend (showing symptoms) as she was anxious about going for a test. Interestingly, her test result was negative but his was positive. Thinking there must have been a mistake, they repeated the test and got the same result. We still have a busy office due during the lockdown so this was a piece of good fortune for our business and has stopped a bigger outbreak happening.
