A MALTON business had vowed to come back better and stronger after being hit by the flooding. Tate Smith Ltd, at the bottom of Castlegate had been battling rising spring water for over two weeks when the premises were finally overwhelmed last Thursday. Managing director, Paul Tate-Smith said: The year 2020 was probably the most challenging in the 132 year history of Tate-Smith Ltd but it feels like 2021 is working on surpassing it. Going straight into lockdown, following the fairly comprehensive cancellation of Christmas and New Year in the licensed trade, was pretty grim, but now we are suffering from an enormous surfeit of water.
