HOLLAND The U.S. Coast Guard plans to close its station in Holland next year and consolidate operations with its station in Grand Haven, citing the ability to better staff a single location to respond to situations.
The Coast Guard issued a notice to the Federal Register on June 9. In the notice, officials said Holland, along with three other season stations, would consolidate with stations that are fully staffed year-round. The consolidation would not happen until 2022.
The plans have to go through a public comment period before being made official. Interested residents can submit comments before Aug. 3 to the Federal Register at regulations.gov with the docket number USCG-2021-0238.
