ATHOL Planning and Development Director Eric Smith recently updated Athol’s Selectboard on plans being developed for the future of Silver Lake, a popular recreational area that for many years has served swimmers, sunbathers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts. Smith was joined by Assistant Public Works Director Paul Raskevitz and Brian Hall, chair of the town’s Open Space and Recreation Review Committee.

ATHOL “There’s a delicate balance between safe roads and spending the taxpayers’ dollars.”
That was the observation from Athol Public Works Director Dick Kilhart Tuesday morning, after the region was buried in a foot or more of snow.

ATHOL – As Winter Storm Gail blew into our region Wednesday night, Athol Public Works Director Dick Kilhart dispatched his crews across the community. Speaking to the Athol Daily News Thursday morning, about three hours before the last snowflake fell, Kilhart expressed some satisfaction with how his small army of workers responded.
