Tuesday, the Ohio Redistricting Commission held a 10-minute meeting and scheduled more sessions for later this week a possible sign of progress in getting maps adopted that follow Ohio law. Or, maybe, the Republican majority is just trying to avoid being cited for contempt of court.
Former Ohio Supreme Court justice Paul Pfeifer says the court has the ability to hold the Ohio Redistricting Commission in contempt of court for not following its order to adopt new state legislative district maps. But, "it's sort of a toothless tool, contempt is," he says.
The Ohio Supreme Court has given the members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission till Wednesday at noon to show why they shouldn’t be held in contempt for ignoring a deadline set by the Court.
