Back in 2016, I had just finished writing my book about London, a reflection on nearly a decade living in the UK capital in which I conclude that the 18th-century English man of letters Samuel Johnson was correct: “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.” But that was then and this is now.
