There have been heavy shootings in some parts of the state capital recently, despite efforts by security agencies and the state government to contain the menace.
Last Monday, two persons were killed at Erepa and Agudama-Epie communities of Yenagoa Local Government while five others who sustained various degree of injuries are responding to treatment at some undisclosed hospitals in the state, according to police authorities.
The police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat, while confirming the incident, appealed to the people of the State and members of the public to remain calm, saying that the command had launched an investigation into the drive-by shooting incident at Erepa and Agudama-epie communities, in Yenagoa.

The Osun State arm of the South-West Security Network, Amotekun Corps on Wednesday, announced the arrest of suspected hoodlums responsible for the recent unrest in Osogbo.
The hoodlums who were arrested at different locations in Osogbo by the network’s patrol team had in their possessions dangerous weapons.
The Osun Field Commander of Amotekun Corps, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, who disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Osogbo said the hoodlums were arrested at different locations in the town.
He said they have been handed over to the appropriate security agencies for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
Amitolu explained that the corps started a 24 hours patrol when there was an upsurge in criminal activities within the state capital.
